Technology
“We actually looked out the window.”
Today, more and more people do not look out the window and choose to look at a screen instead. When a family decides to go on a road trip, the kids in the backseat choose not to focus on the country roads they are passing by, and instead on what their friends send them on snapchat. Technology has taken up such a huge part in our everyday lives that automated cars are in our near future. Soon it won’t just be the kids in the backseat not looking outside, but the parent in the driver's seat. In certain countries, the ratio of phones to people are four to one. This means that an average person would have four mobile devices. I think this statistic is crazy because ten years ago, no one even had phone to use. Now, there are more phones than people. Instead of going out and socializing with people, more and more choose to stay at home and entertain themselves with what is on social media instead. In a social setting, to avoid talking to people, others often take what is viewed as the easy way out and turn on their phones. Technology has also been used to help more and more people stay closer. It’s helped people stay connected from across the world. In the past, when a pair could only communicate through letters or an expensive phone call once a month, now people can see their loved ones faces on a screen at any time of day as long as they have wifi. Technology has taken a huge leap in the decade and it’s crazy to think what could be accomplished in another.

Nice post! I agree as well that technology has come a long way, for bad and good. But hopefully we can continue using technology in a positive way by being interactive and vocal about issues.
